Al-Balad Residences | بيوت البلد

This project was developed during an artist residency at a UNESCO heritage house in the Jeddah Historical District (Al-Balad). It draws inspiration from the horizontal circulation within Al-Balad’s alleyways, focusing on framed openings and the shifting perspectives as you walk past them. A similar experience is mirrored within the domestic interiors of traditional Hijazi homes, particularly in the vertical circulation surrounding the minwar (lightwell), where movement and perspective continuously transform around this central architectural element.
