Strangers

Strangers is a family portrait painted while the artist was living abroad, an attempt to bring her loved ones into her space. Depicting her mother, sisters, and nieces, the work carries both tenderness and estrangement, showing how distance unsettles intimacy and can turn even family into strangers — while remaining strangers to the viewer. It questions the very notion of kinship, between blood relations and chosen bonds.
