Surfaces (Dis)remembered

Palimpsests exemplify early records of the written word. In this process, the original text is scraped and washed off, the surface re-smoothed, making space for new ideas. This work aims to create an urban palimpsest, to commemorate and archive the life and death of the rock formations in Riyadh. For they represent the material traces of the past in the present. The fear of forgetting triggers this desire to remember and in order to remember, I erase these landscapes into our collective memory.
